O Sole Mio – I LOVE Pizza!

A girlfriend of mine is heading to Rome and it got me to thinking about pizza. I LOVE pizza … but what exactly is it about pizza that I love?

When I really got to thinking about it, the only thing I love about pizza is the flavor of the topping!

With that in mind, I hit the kitchen and created something that I think is pretty spectacular!

All I can say is this, with a little bit of imagination, this is one wicked version of a pizza.

1 onion, chopped
1 sliced shaved ham, cut into 1cm squares
2 eggs, beaten
4 egg whites, beaten
1 Tspn Oregano
1 Tspn Basil
1 Tspn Coriander (Cilantro)
1/2 Tspn Rosemary
1 Tbspn butter
Sprinkle of Parmesan Cheese

Heat butter in non-stick pan.
Saute onion until nearly cooked.
Add ham and brown.
Add beaten eggs and egg whites and stir continuously.
Sprinkle all herbs on top and continue to stir.
Remove from heat and savor.

This was delicious!!!

Try it and let me know what you think. All the flavors of Rome, without the guilt trip afterwards!

Childhood Obesity – How You Can Be An Instrument Of Change

Childhood obesity in America is at epidemic levels.

childhood obesityThis is such a sad indictment of our so-called ‘advanced’ culture. How crazy is it that the more advanced we get, the sicker we become?

Do you remember how it was when you were a kid? Childhood obesity was unheard of.

I grew up without a computer, I didn’t know what email was until I was in my 30’s and I still have trouble downloading, exporting and converting. It’s another world.

But the world I grew up in saw kids play outside until the sun came down.

This new world has kids chained to a computer for an average of 7.5 hours a day. That’s not healthy. In fact it’s a recipe for disaster! Childhood obesity is at epidemic levels in the US. One third of our child population is overweight.

Just look around you at the kids of today. They don’t look like the kids of a generation ago do they?

Is it their fault? No.childhood obesity

It’s ours.

We feed them food with very little nutritional value, sometimes because we don’t know any better, and we’ve lost our emphasis on exercise.

All throughout my blog I ask the question, “What Is YOUR Motivation To Lose Weight?” And sometimes I put it out there, that we will do more for those we love than we will ever do for ourselves.

Do you have children who are also struggling to lose weight?

How would it be if you had a way to help your kids lose weight too and give them the future they deserve, free from a future of high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease?

And don’t even get me started on the emotional and psychological issues of low self-esteem and eating disorders that are brought about by being an overweight kid. I know, I’ve been there!

But YOU can change this. You Can Be An Instrument Of Change

By choosing to accept your responsibility as a parent, for teaching your kids how to eat and exercise you can create a whole different future for your kids. You can teach, by setting the example.

Everything you need to know to get YOUR life, and your kid’s life back on track are just a few clicks away.

If you’ve tried to get your kids interested in exercise before and they’re just not into it Go Here Now and learn how you can help your child with just a few minutes to spare each day. It’ll be one of the greatest gifts you will ever give them.

Scrambled Eggs To Boost Your Metabolism And Help Prevent Cancer

Scrambled eggs could turn your life around.

scrambled eggsI’ve been doing a lot of research lately and the overwhelming medicinal benefits of a little yellow spice have caught my attention.

Turmeric, containing the active ingredient curcumin is showing startling evidence that it can aid in the treatment and prevention of various forms of cancer.

I found this post in Health Diaries which lists 20 reasons to add turmeric to your diet:

1. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns.

2. When combined with cauliflower, it has shown to prevent prostate cancer and stop the growth of existing prostate cancer.

3. Prevented breast cancer from spreading to the lungs in mice.

4. May prevent melanoma and cause existing melanoma cells to commit suicide.

5. Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.

6. Is a natural liver detoxifier.

7. May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain.

8. May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.

9. It is a potent natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects.

10. Has shown promise in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice.

11. Is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor.

12. May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management.

13. Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression.

14. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

15. Boosts the effects of chemo drug paclitaxel and reduces its side effects.

16. Promising studies are underway on the effects of turmeric on pancreatic cancer.

17. Studies are ongoing in the positive effects of turmeric on multiple myeloma.

18. Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.

19. Speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin.

20. May help in the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.

And if you want to give it some extra metabolism boosting powers, sprinkle a bit of Cayenne Pepper on top – WAM!!!

Now that’s a great way to start the day.

Remember, if you are serious about weight loss, you must ALWAYS eat breakfast!

For more ways to enhance weight loss check out these 7 Super Simple Steps.

7 Super Simple Ways To Enhance Weight Loss

Weight loss does not need to be complicated. The simpler you can make it the greater chance you have at maintaining it.

So with that in mind, here are 7 Super Simple Ways To Enhance Weight Loss

1. Drink Plenty Of Water – The Right Way

weight lossThis is not new but it’s not just about drinking water, it’s about HOW you drink your water that will enhance your weight loss.

We know that we need to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, but not many people know when, why and how to drink water .

When – before meals, preferably not during or after.  You see, when you eat, acids in your stomach come in to play to digest your food and aid in the absorption of nutrients.

If you’re creating Niagra Falls down there you’re going to mess with the natural order of things. So it’s best to drink BEFORE you eat. Another advantage of this is that it gives you a slight full sensation which is always great before a meal.

Why – it’s awesome for flushing toxins out of the body.

How – Personally, I’m a fan of the theory that we should not drink ice water. Think of it like this. Your metabolism needs to be a hot burning furnace! If you douse it with ice water you’re cooling your furnace. So, and this is just my opinion … drink your water at room temperature.

2. Eat More, Often

This is such a fabulous concept but a difficult one for die-hard dieters to grasp. A lot of us were brought up not to eat in between meals … because it’ll spoil your appetite.

As it turns out, that wasn’t the best advice.

In order to enhance your weight loss, reduce the size of your main meals and snack on small amounts of food in between. This keeps your metabolism revved up and your blood sugar levels happy.

That’s how you get rid of cravings! Just keep stoking the furnace with healthy, nutritious, delicious foods!

3. Always Eat Breakfast

weight lossThis is non-negotiable! Half the battle with effective weight loss is metabolism. If you sabotage your metabolism you’re making it so much harder to lose weight.

It’s called breakfast because you are breaking the fast that incurred during sleep. You need to refuel.

If you skip breakfast, your blood sugar levels will drop, your metabolism will become sluggish and you’ll be heading for Dunkin’ Donuts faster than you can say Double Cocoa Kreme Puff!

4. Be Mindful When You Eat

In this crazy world we live in it is so easy to scoff food down fast to get onto the next task. Hey! I’m guilty of it too. This one takes practice but it’s important.

Be mindful when you eat, slow down and savor your food. When you eat on the run, or in a rapid fashion, your stomach can’t keep up with the pace! It gets all agitated and upset … and that’s how you get indigestion and a whole host of other problems.

Your stomach is vital to your health. Respect it. It has a huge job to do. Disrespect it at your peril!

5. Chew Your Food Well

weight lossThis enhances your weight loss in two ways.

Firstly, chewing your food 20-30 times turns your food into a liquid that will enable better digestion by the stomach.

Secondly, studies suggest that people who chew their food longer, end up eating fewer calories. By taking longer to eat your food, you’re giving your stomach time to get the message to your brain that you’ve actually had enough. Forks go down, pounds drop off.

6. Don’t Nuke Your Food

There’s nothing less appetizing than soggy veges and overcooked meat.

Learn how to cook your food so that it can maintain it’s nutritional value. If you overcook your food and suck the life out of it you’re going to feel deprived and unsatisfied.

Play with herbs and spices as well. When healthy food options excite you, you are well on the way to kicking all nasty food cravings to the curb for good!

7. “After 8 Not Even A Grape” ~ Oprah Winfrey

weight lossThis is the one weight loss tip from Oprah that has always stuck with me. I know it’s hard when you have a crazy schedule to keep to something like this, but just be mindful of this concept.

At night your body needs to go into rest and recovery mode.

If you give it extra jobs, like late night digestion … you’re really not giving it a fair go.

If weight loss is genuinely your goal, you need to give your body a chance to work with you.

So there you have it, 7 Super Simple Ways To Enhance Weight Loss

Motivation To Lose Weight | How I Lost 91kg!!!

Have you found your motivation to lose weight yet?

A Post From Australian Women’s Health.

motivation to lose weight

Name: Jessica Whitehead
Age: 41
Job: Director of sales for a technology company

Weight before: 156kg

Weight after: 65kg

Jessica Whitehead was never one to pass up a good time – especially if food was involved.

For years she met friends every night for dinner, ordering the largest sizes and add-ons: extra cheese on her pizza, extra mayo on her overstuffed sandwiches and a side of chips with her meal.

“Eating big and trying everything was symbolic of success and living my life fully,” Whitehead says. But if someone asked her to play volleyball or go skiing, she always opted out because she feared her weight – which peaked at 156kg – would prevent her from participating.

“I was embarrassed,” she says. I felt I couldn’t do those things.”

In July 2005, Whitehead’s luggage was lost on a trip to France.

For two days, she shopped for clothes to wear on the holiday, but it quickly became clear that none of the stores carried her size [at the time, it was 36].

“An entire country doesn’t even acknowledge people like me; they don’t believe people my size exist,” she remembers thinking. Finally comprehending her unhealthy condition, Whitehead resolved to lose weight when she returned home.

Whitehead traded her excessive eating habits for a high-protein diet, and began reading food labels and learning portion control.

She eventually joined a gym and hired a personal trainer, who created a program that blended cardio and circuit training.

Six days a week, she walked or ran the 2.5km from home to the gym, did her workout and hoofed it back.

In just two weeks she dropped 11kg.

Motivated by her results, Whitehead began tweaking her gym routine every six weeks to bust through plateaus, and began spreading her energy intake out over six small meals a day.

With the scales down to 86kg by February 2007, Whitehead began experimenting more in the kitchen, finding new ways to add vegies to her favourite chicken and fish dinners. She kept her TV off so she wouldn’t watch while she ate.

“I wanted to sit down and actually enjoy what I was eating,” she says. By May 2008, she was a toned 65kg.

Today, “living large” to Whitehead means hiking, rock climbing and running 5km fun runs. “I’m making up for lost time. I’m not going to waste a minute of my new life,” she says. And now she’s 90kg lighter, nothing seems impossible.

“I’ve accomplished the one thing I thought I could never do – lose weight and be fit and active and truly healthy – so now I know I can do anything.”

You CAN Lose All The Weight You Want By NEVER Dieting Again … Jessica did … it’s YOUR TURN NEXT.

Need To Lose Weight – So What’s Stopping You?

Do you NEED to lose weight or do you merely WANT to lose weight?

By it’s very definition ‘wanting’ is pretty lame. But ‘needing’ … well that’s a whole different story.

Want – [ trans. ] have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for

Need – [ trans. ] require (something) because it is essential or very important

So which is it? Do you simply ‘want’ to lose weight or are you at that place where you refuse to live like this any longer and you ‘NEED’ to lose weight?

Having dieted for over 33 years I finally came to the realization that all of my dieting efforts were a feeble attempt at wanting to lose weight. But when push came to shove, I wasn’t prepared to put in the hard yards to make the necessary changes to my lifestyle.

need to lose weightThat was until this year.

Something inside of me snapped in 2012. I had finally had enough of my weak self.

Armed with the knowledge that I had failed at every diet I had ever tried, I needed to get off the dieting merry-go-round once and for all. I was so tired of living on the sidelines and playing small. I knew I deserved better than that.

And guess what? So do you!

I’m not going to lie to you … it’s not easy changing the behaviors of a lifetime that are keeping you miserable. But then again, nothing in life worth having, comes easily. It’s the things we work for that give us the most pleasure, and ultimately we will most treasure.

If someone tells you that the latest diet is ‘easy’ and you’ll lose all the weight you want … run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. It’s just another trap designed to keep you on the dieting merry-go-round.

Think about it logically, if diets really worked … why haven’t you lost weight yet?

Deep down you know fad diets are a ruse designed to get your hopes up and empty your pockets one more time.

The major reason why most diets don’t work is because they fail to educate you on HOW to live once you’ve finished the diet.

So let me ask you this … how would you like to get off the dieting merry-go-round once and for all?

What if I told you there was a way to lose all the weight you wanted by:

NEVER dieting again

NOT counting calories

NOT weighing your food

NOT depriving yourself of real food

NOT weighing or measuring yourself

Would you be interested?

Everything I learned about losing weight and keeping it off forever is RIGHT HERE. If you are finally at that place where you NEED to lose weight more than you WANT to lose weight … you NEED this.

Because of what I discovered this time around, you will NEVER need to go on another diet ever again.

Do yourself a favor and just Check It Out.

My disgust for some people in the weight loss industry has just sunk to an all time low.

weight lossFive people have died after undergoing a procedure that was supposed to be simple and would finally help them lose all the weight they wanted.

It breaks my heart to learn that they fell prey to the unscrupulous practices of two Hollywood ‘Doctors’ who pull in around $21 million per month with their magical ‘guaranteed weight loss’ surgery.

Motivation To Lose Weight | Endorphins – The REAL Happy Drug

As you are already aware, motivation to lose weight is just one component of a successful campaign to lose weight.

motivation to lose weightIt’s one of ‘The 4 Pillars Of Weight Loss.’

The other three components are equally important and all fall under the banner of Mindset and are discussed further in my book.

But today I want to talk about exercise because I  know there are some people who are still struggling to get their groove on where this is concerned.

For me exercise is about so much more than just losing weight. I now crave exercise, like I used to crave a jelly donut. And here’s why …

Exercise, Endorphins & Morphine

I have a ‘set’ time to exercise so that I don’t actually have to ‘think’ about doing it. Like the commercial says, I “Just Do It!” There’s no to’ing and fro’ing in my mind. I know that as soon as 5:00pm rolls around it’s time to stop typing and get moving!

I feel SO GOOD when I exercise.

And this is what I really want you to get from this post today.

If you’re currently in a state where you feel depressed and simply don’t want to move, I urge you to get yourself to a place where you “Just Do It!” Don’t think about it, or rationalize it. I want you to just go through the motions, one day at a time.

And it’s OK if you don’t enjoy it in the beginning. Believe me when I say this, you’re not alone.

But when it becomes part of your daily routine, like brushing your teeth it starts to become more enjoyable and you’ll find yourself looking forward to it.

The real bonus of exercise that not a lot of people focus on is the ‘high’ you get from it.

The Runner’s High

Have you ever heard people talk about ‘runners high?’ It’s real, I can vouch for it. It’s the euphoric state you get into when you’ve pushed yourself to a point where your body releases endorphins which trigger pleasurable feelings. Much the same as a shot of morphine.

You FEEL good when you exercise. You start to have a more positive outlook on life. To me weight loss is secondary. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not.

For me, getting that ‘high,’ that ‘rush,’ … that’s why I love to exercise. You can’t beat it.

And this is why I encourage you to find an exercise you love to do. Don’t worry about how many calories you’re burning … none of that matters. Because if we can get you to a place where YOU FEEL GOOD about yourself, you’re going to want to eat right and you’re going to want to look after yourself better.

And again we come back to mindset.

This entire journey is about adopting a mindset that is all about getting YOU to LOVE YOU! When you truly love yourself, you want to do good things for yourself.

So if you’re still seeing exercise as a chore that ‘has to be done,’ I think you need to get another exercise. If you’re not going to enjoy it, you’re not going to do it. And if you’re not going to do it, you’re not going to get any of the results you’re looking for. Remember, losing weight is just a side benefit of exercising.

Exercises to get your groove on

So when choosing your exercise, make it something that you LOVE to do … go for a bike ride, hit the dance floor, get out in the garden, hit the yard, tootle on around the golf course, get some vigorous house work done, grab a friend and hit some balls on the tennis court, go for a swim or simply take a walk … your options are endless. Make it something you’re going to look forward to doing.

And I need you to really ‘get this.’ Whilst you’re occupied doing a physical activity, you’re releasing endorphins, you’re feeling good about yourself and you are not thinking about food. That’s where we want to get you to.

Not only that, you’re reducing your stress levels, keeping depression at bay, boosting your self-esteem and you’re going to be sleeping better.

Not a bad payoff is it??

In Conclusion

When you find an exercise that you look forward to doing, it makes keeping your motivation to lose weight so much easier. And as long as your motivation to lose weight is rock solid, you my friend are golden!

P.S. I hope you enjoyed this post … please click ‘like’ if you did and share it with your friends. Who knows, maybe one of them wants to work out with you : )
